We’re shortly going to be launching our new branded water bottles, in support of Mary’s Meals. Check the charity out online. They do fantastic work for starving children across the globe, providing school meals for those in need. We’ll be donating 4p (which is often enough to feed one child in their place of education for a day).
After months of hard work we are now less than a week away from the launch of our brand new pasta brand, Simply Fantastico, which was developed in collaboration with Gino D’Acampo. We’re so excited about the launch, which will see Gino visit one of our schools to serve the very first portion of pasta. Watch this space for videos…
Congratulations to Wendy Franklin of Barnfield West Academy, who won an iPad 2 courtesy of Innovate’s internal rewards scheme. Wendy was very pleased, saying: “I am absolutely shocked that I won! It must be my lucky year because I also won a weekend break at the recent Innovate Roadshow. The girls are all very jealous!”
The prize draw formed part of the launch of the new Vectis scheme, offering our staff a range of discounts on everyday purchases.
Click here to see this morning’s article from the BBC, and read a response from Innovate’s CEO below:
Derick Martin, CEO, Innovate Services:
“Over the last few years, attitudes have changed regarding school catering and we are never going to see a return of Turkey Twizzlers on the menus as a result. There are a number of reasons for this – the guidelines have of course made a difference overall, but also we believe that attitudes have significantly changed amongst not only school staff and operators, but also amongst students themselves who are far more health-conscious today. There is also a duty for caterers, principals and senior leadership teams at Academies to ensure the menus remain healthy, despite their freedom from the guidelines. At Innovate, we operate in over 65 Schools and Academies throughout the UK, From Hull to Plymouth, including all the major new west London academies. Not only are we seeing high uptake of school food, but also the number of plated hot meals served is higher than average.”
Check out this fab food display put together by our Executive Chef, Ali Gray, for a recent presentation. Great job, Ali!
Check out this spooky spread at Honiton Community College, put together by creative Catering Manager Sue Pym… Careful Sue, we don’t want to scare away the customers!
The exciting Lunchbox Amnesty project gained recognition with an “EE Loves” badge in the latest edition of EdExec online. Following successful sessions at Rainham, Tytherington and Chaucer we are busy working up a report on nutritional and microbiological findings from the project. In the image above we see Dr Lisa Ackerley sifting through lunch box content at Chaucer Technology School in Canterbury.

This week sees the launch of our brand new staff newsletter, Innside (get it?). We will use this newsletter to keep our staff up-to-date with what’s happening in other schools and colleges, and thank our star performers for their efforts.
The third Lunch Box Amnesty session took place at Tytherington with great success. Dr Ackerley shocked students with fascinating facts about hygiene and bacteria, before samples were taken from a range of lunch boxes donated by year 8 and 9 students. Thanks guys!
